‘My Title, By The Way’ – WWE’s Seth Rollins Shares Thoughts On Roman Reigns Vs Jacob Fatu World Heavyweight Championship Match Set For Backlash 2026

Seth Rollins expects Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu to have “the worst kind of fights” at WWE Backlash, due to their family connection.

The May 9 WWE Backlash sees Roman Reigns defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Jacob Fatu, with the physical hostility demonstrated over past weeks.

With the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line, Seth Rollins appeared on ESPN’s Get Up to address the match and the title he didn’t lose, revealing that it is very much still in his sights.

Asked about the upcoming match, Rollins would reflect on the family connection between Reigns and Fatu and their very different standings in WWE, stating:

“I mean, that’s a family right, right there, and, you know, families, they’ve got the worst kind of fights, so that’s what I’m expecting, there.

“The interesting thing is, Jacob’s on the come-up. It’s kind of like me and Bron. You’ve got that guy on the come-up who wants it all and needs it all. He’s got a family that he wants to provide for; he’s got seven kids. Then, you’ve got Roman, who’s been on the top for a long time – holding onto my title, by the way.

“It’s going to be interesting to see if Roman’s still got enough in the tank when Jacob Fatu says he’s ‘all gas and no brakes’. We’ll see how it goes.”

Rollins faces Bron Breakker at WWE Backlash, with The Vision member hoping to put the story “to bed” after the match on Saturday.

Back in October of last year, Rollins was forced to vacate the WWE World Heavyweight Championship due to a legitimate injury.

Third Time’s The Charm?

The inaugural WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins lost the title to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 40 last year, only for the belt to change hands moments later when Damian Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase for the win. Rollins would reclaim the title at SummerSlam Night 1 last year after CM Punk defeated GUNTHER, with the Second City Saint’s reign also ending promptly thanks to another Money in the Bank cash-in.

Sadly, for Rollins, there’s no cash-in to be had going into Backlash, so that’s not an option for the star who will be facing Breakker in the first hour of the May 9 show.

That said, assuming that the story between Rollins and The Vision is coming to an end, an opportunity clearly exists for The Visionary to leave that feud in the history and focus on new ground, albeit revisiting a title he’s already held twice.

Since the title was introduced in its current guise, Rollins, GUNTHER, and CM Punk have all held the championship twice, with an opportunity for a record to be set. What better than the inaugural champion becoming a record-setting three time WWE World Heavyweight Champion?

Of course, in order to achieve this, the stars have to align, with Rollins looking at a post-Backlash challenge in the form of either Roman Reigns, who was reported as being removed from upcoming episodes of Raw as he isn’t competing at Night of Champions next month, or a full-time star in the form of Jacob Fatu.
