WWE
Lizzy Rain has commented on other stars from the United Kingdom who have made their WWE debuts recently, calling it “very exciting”.
On the April 28 episode, WWE NXT fans caught sight of a collective of new stars, including Lizzy Rain, Tristan Angels and Mason Rook, a trio of names from the United Kingdom.
With that shared kinship, Lizzy Rain recently shared her thoughts on the debuting stars during an interview with SoundSphere Magazine, saying:
“It is very exciting. We’re such a unit as well. We’re so supportive of each other.
“We knew each other before coming here, and then to see each other go viral and have these crazy things happen to us is really amazing… everyone from that UK… we’ve also got Romeo (Moreno) as well.
“Like we all love wrestling so much, and to be here together, fueling this passion and driving each other to be better, each and every day is so cool.”
Rook, in particular, has seen his virality following his debut, with John Cena sharing a new shoutout in the form of a familiar chant on social media.
Rain was previously Rayne Leverkusen on the independent scene, with Rook being known as Will Kroos and Angels being Angel. Moreno is a Spanish star who was known on the UK independent circuit as Zozaya, with his WWE debut match taking place on an NXT house show in November of last year.
The British Invasion
Whether on-screen or behind-the-scenes, WWE has a number of names from the United Kingdom under contract across a wide spectrum of roles.
The rich pickings of the country’s independent scene, with recent WWE tryouts in London, England, continues to see talent from the United Kingdom hoping to pursue a contract opportunity of their own. It’s far from a phenomenon unique to the current era, with the company having brought in stars from the UK throughout its storied history, many of whom went on to championship reigns and main event status.
Compiling a list of the current British names in WWE would be quite the task, but suffice to say that names from the UK compete regularly on Raw, SmackDown and NXT, while the likes of William Regal, Fit Finlay, Robbie Brookside, Norman Smiley and Johnny Moss have long-standing roles shaping the careers of the stars.
For a period, there was a focus within WWE on the United Kingdom (and Europe) thanks to NXT UK, a brand that existed from June 2018, having previously been WWE UK, only to come to an end in September 2022. Many of the stars of the weekly television show have gone on to success on the main roster, with Rhea Ripley being an example of a star who was able to hone her craft in the United Kingdom, evolving into the star we know her as today.
While NXT UK may be no more, WWE continues to tap into the British wrestling scene, identifying the stars of the future, and there’s plenty of talent around the country.
