John Cena has addressed his upcoming ‘history-making’ announcement at WWE Backlash, that’s going to ‘shock the foundation’ of WWE.
After making an appearance at WrestleMania 42 as the host of the show, John Cena is set for his next appearance following his WWE retirement this Saturday at Backlash, where he is set to make a ‘history-making’ announcement.
Cena’s appearance at Backlash reportedly came about due to Cena living in the vicinity of the show, and was finalised weeks before it was officially announced by the company.
John Cena Says Backlash Announcement Will ‘Shock The Very Foundation’ Of WWE
Taking to social media, Cena recorded a video of himself in Tampa, where he spoke about his upcoming announcement at Backlash.
Cena noted that the announcement will ‘shock the very foundation of WWE’.
He said:
“In just a few days I have a major announcement that’s going to shock the very foundation of WWE. From it’s fans to it’s superstars, from it’s champions down to it’s rookies. I’m so grateful Tampa is allowing me the place to make this announcement.”
What Is John Cena’s WWE Backlash Announcement?
With Cena hyping up the history-making announcement, fans have begun speculating on just what it could be that Cena is set to announce on Saturday night in Tampa.
Most fans’ speculation has been around the upcoming launch of the ‘Club WWE’ service that was recently announced, with Cena’s voice being the voice used for the previous advertising for the service.
Club WWE recently sent out a pre-release members list to reserve memberships, with the official launch coming later this year, as Cena may end up announcing at Backlash.
However, given recent surprises on WWE television have been met with a lot of scrutiny from fans, WWE may need to be careful with the upcoming announcement, with a Club WWE announcement likely set to be seen as a disappointment by fans in Tampa.
Other than Club WWE, Cena’s announcement could also be in regards to a future WrestleMania, as he recently hosted this year’s show in Las Vegas, and teased a potential future WrestleMania in London back at Money In The Bank in 2023.
Nashville, Tennessee is reportedly currently in negotiations to bring WrestleMania 44 to the new Nissan Stadium in 2028 following next year’s event in Riyadh.
