Kilkenny Councillor Maurice Shortall believes Ireland is “well placed” to put in a competitive bid to host WWE WrestleMania.
There’s currently a whole contingent of Irish stars on the WWE roster, namely Becky Lynch, Sheamus, Finn Balor, JD McDonagh and Lyra Valkyria.
Now, representatives in the country are hoping to make a play to host WrestleMania in the future.
With WWE seemingly more open than ever to going wherever the money is, even if that means holding its premier event outside of the US, a competitive bid could mean just about anywhere is in the running to host WrestleMania, and the Republic of Ireland is no different.
Speaking with the Irish Mirror, Maurice Shortall, the Councillor for Kilkenny, said:
“As a globally recognised event with the capacity to attract tens of thousands of international visitors and generate substantial international media exposure, WrestleMania presents a significant opportunity for Ireland to strengthen its position as a leading destination for major event tourism.
“The wider regional benefit to counties such as Kilkenny would be substantial, with strong potential for tourism spillover, increased domestic travel, and enhanced international visibility for Ireland’s secondary tourism destinations.
“Ireland is well placed to present a credible and competitive bid for WrestleMania, given our strong international tourism brand, proven track record in hosting major events, and global reputation as a welcoming destination.”

Future WrestleMania Locations
It was noted that Shortall intends to pitch his suggestion of Ireland hosting WrestleMania to the government.
If it was to go through, the most likely landing spot would probable be Croke Park in Dublin, which is something that Sheamus has suggested in the past.
What know at this point is that WrestleMania 43 will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and WWE owes New Orleans a WrestleMania after pulling this year’s event out of the city to host it in Las Vegas again.
Also, it emerged a couple of weeks ago that Mania 43 was originally slated for Nashville, which is now looking at future years.
