WWE Backlash 2026 will serve as the followup to the two-night WrestleMania 42 premium live event with plenty of the matches on the lineup stemming from the results of “The Showcase of the Immortals.”

With two big title matches and grudges being settled, Backlash 2026 could be an intriguing night that has ramifications for both Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown moving forward.

That makes the results of the bouts on the card that much more compelling and interesting to see who walks out as a winner and a loser in Tampa, Florida.

Here are our preview and predictions for WWE Backlash 2026, complete with the current betting favourites for each match (via William Hill).

Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker

Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker first aligned on the WWE Raw after WrestleMania 41

Back in October 2025, Bron Breakker orchestrated The Vision to turn on their leader Seth Rollins.

Thanks to an assault from Breakker and Bronson Reed, Rollins was forced to relinquish the World Heavyweight Championship and excommunicated from the group he created.

Then several months later, Rollins made his return underneath the guise of a mask to cost Breakker the Men’s Royal Rumble Match at WWE Royal Rumble 2026 and started making The Vision’s lives a living hell.

During the chaos he caused underneath a mask, Breakker suffered a hernia that kept him sidelined, while Rollins revealed he was behind these attacks on Paul Heyman and The Vision.

This led to WrestleMania 42 Night One where GUNTHER defeated Rollins thanks to outside interference from the returning Breakker.

This now sets the stage for Breakker and Rollins to finally go one-on-one at WWE Backlash 2026. Despite his experience and being his former mentor, “The Visionary” has been unable to get the better of Breakker in any of their exchanges as of late.

Feeling like his back is against the wall, Rollins might come out and pull out all the stops to finally one up Breakker to defeat him on May 9 at WWE Backlash 2026.

Predictions: Seth Rollins

Betting odds: Bron Breakker (8/11 to Rollins EVENS)

WWE United States Championship: Trick Williams (c) vs. Sami Zayn

Trick Williams captured his first main roster WWE championship at WrestleMania 42, defeating Sami Zayn for the United States Championship

Since getting called up to the WWE main roster, Trick Williams has been embroiled in a feud with Sami Zayn.

With both men in pursuit of their first world title, Williams and Zayn have gotten in each other’s way for success in WWE.

Then at WrestleMania 42 Night Two, Trick defeated Sami to win the WWE United States Championship.

Since then, Zayn has dressed as the Gingerbread Man that Williams made fun of him with to attack the champion and Lil Yachty.

This led to Sami recently attacking and pulling apart the Gingerbread Man, showing the jokes and the reaction he has been getting from the fans has finally gotten to him.

Now with a rematch set for WWE Backlash 2026, Zayn comes in more angered than ever towards Williams, but this could be his downfall thanks to not being as focused as he should be on regaining the US Title from Williams.

Predictions: Trick Williams

Betting odds: Trick Williams (1/8 to Zayn 9/2)

Asuka vs. IYO SKY

Asuka & IYO SKY’s match was bumped off the card for WrestleMania 42 before being added to WWE Backlash

Since making her return to WWE in 2025, Asuka has shown herself to be a jealous and envious individual towards her former protege, IYO SKY.

Thanks to her success and friendship with Rhea Ripley, SKY was betrayed by Asuka and even got her friend Kairi Sane put against her as well.

This led to several battles with IYO teaming with Rhea to face off with The Kabuki Warriors over the past several months.

Now Ripley is over on Friday Night SmackDown as WWE Women’s Champion and Kairi is no longer with the company after being released, this leaves just Asuka and IYO to settle their issues once and for all.

This feud is set to culminate in what should be a heated encounter on the WWE Backlash 2026 card.

While this could pretty much go either way, it feels like the right time for IYO to finally get revenge for the months of torment and disrespect she has felt at the hands of her senpai in Tampa.

Predictions: IYO SKY

Betting odds: IYO SKY (1/10 to Asuka 11/2)

Danhausen & mystery partner vs. The Miz & Kit Wilson

The tag team match will mark the first WWE premium live event match of both Danhausen and Kit Wilson

Ever since making his WWE debut at Elimination Chamber 2026, Danhausen has taken the company by storm and become one of the most popular stars on the roster.

On Friday Night SmackDown, Danhausen went to The Miz and asked for his guidance as his mentor.

However, Miz denied him and led to Danhausen cursing “The A Lister,” becoming a thorn in his side for the past couple of months.

After invading his home and ruining his second wedding with Maryse, it looked like Miz was finally going to give Danhausen what he wanted and make him his mentee, but Kit Wilson stopped this from happening and led to the two attacking Danhausen.

With these two enemies laying him out, Danhausen went to Nick Aldis for a match against them, which was announced for WWE Backlash 2026 with the “Very Nice, Very Evil” star needing to find a mystery tag team partner.

From a friend like CM Punk and Jelly Roll to a current talent like Royce Keys or AAA’s Mr. Iguana coming to his aid, whoever Danhausen chooses to stand by him will most likely catch Miz and Kit off guard, leading to a victory at WWE Backlash 2026.

Predictions: Danhausen & mystery partner

Betting odds: Danhausen & mystery partner (1/33 to Miz & Wilson 10/1)

WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jacob Fatu

Roman Reigns captured the World Heavyweight Championship for the first-time in his career back at WrestleMania 42

At WrestleMania 42 Night Two, Roman Reigns defeated CM Punk to win the World Heavyweight Championship.

Then on the April 20 WWE Raw After Mania, Jacob Fatu stepped up to the plate to challenge his cousin for the gold.

Reigns gave his cousin a week to think over his decision, which led to Fatu standing by this choice to challenge for the gold at WWE Backlash 2026 and laying out “The OTC” with the Tongan Death Grip twice.

Despite the pleas from The Usos to leave this alone, Fatu has shown no fear whatsoever in Roman and been defiant to his control over the family.

Wanting to get everything that a world champion receives for his own family, Fatu feels more determined and focused than ever to beat his cousin to capture his first World Heavyweight Title.

Now with this showdown set to headline Backlash 2026, it feels way too soon for Reigns to lose the title and should see him overcome “The Samoan Werewolf” in Tampa on May 9.

Predictions: Roman Reigns

Betting odds: Roman Reigns (1/12 to Fatu 6/1)
