With a victory already in the record books, Lizzy Rain has revealed that the NXT Women’s North American Championship is her “next goal”.
One of six stars to debut on the April 28 episode of WWE NXT, Lizzy Rain would score her first televised win, defeating Nikkita Lyons.
Rain has revealed a goal in her early WWE career, targeting the NXT Women’s North American Championship currently held by Tatum Paxley.
Speaking to SoundSphere, Rain made her objective clear with a “go big or go home” attitude, saying:
“You know what, it is the next goal, the North American Championship is the next goal. Why not, like, go big or go home?
“I’m loud, I’m unapologetic. I’m here to make an impact. So why not go for that belt?”
Paxley defeated Izzi Dame to kick off her own first reign as NXT Women’s North American Champion back at Vengeance Day on March 7.
Rain returns to NXT next week, where she will be teaming up with Paxley for the first time to take on Zaria and Nikkita Lyons.
This week’s NXT saw all four women engage in a brawl, with the sticky subject of Paxley’s title being at its heart and Zaria standing tall over the fallen champion.
A BattleGround For The Championship
Although yet to be announced, it wouldn’t be surprising if Lizzy Rain did challenge Tatum Paxley for the NXT Women’s North American Championship in a match that could see metal versus terror, assuming Zaria and Lyons don’t get their first.
While it’s far too early to pin down when such a match could take place for the title, it’s interesting to note that the majority of NXT Women’s North American Championship title changes have taken place on Premium Live Event shows or specials, with only one taking place on the regular show, thanks to an unplanned pin that saw Thea Hail become champion.
Announced in April 2024, the NXT Women’s North American Championship would see Kelani Jordan as the inaugural title holder at Battleground in June of that year, the winner of a six-woman ladder match that also featured Fallon Henley, Jaida Parker, Lash Legend, Michin and Sol Ruca.
NXT Battleground for 2026 is yet to be announced, although last year’s event took place on May 25, with the 2023 event also taking place in the same month. Only the 2024 edition took place in June since the revival of the PLE for the NXT brand.
With three events since its return, it’d be unusual if WWE decided that 2026 was the year to drop the Battleground name, which was a previous WWE main roster PLE between 2013 and 2017.
With bold ambition in mind, it’s only a matter of time before Rain enters her first championship contendership match.
