The world of combat sports completely shifted on it’s head the night after WrestleMania 39 this year, when it was officially announced that WWE had been sold.
After months of speculation, Endeavor were revealed to be the company that had purchased WWE, forming a merger company with the Endeavor owned UFC.
With the sale, the number one MMA and Professional Wrestling companies in the United States are now under the same banner, but could the same be set to happen to the number two?
On the MMA Hour, Ariel Helwani said that the Khan family were among the groups interested in purchasing Bellator MMA from Paramount Global.
Helwani said that he is unclear to what degree the Khans were, or still are, interested.
The Khan family owns the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars and Premier League Football Club Fulham, as well as obviously All Elite Wrestling.
While it has yet to be formally announced, those within the MMA industry are aware that Bellator is up for sale, with the Professional Fighters League (PFL) said to be the group most interested.
Helwani noted that the PFL initially backed out, before getting back into the mix ‘several weeks ago’.
