Shane McMahon Legitimately Broke The Miz’s Dad’s Rib At WWE WrestleMania

Don’t get me wrong, seeing Kofi Kingston lift the WWE Championship inside MetLife Stadium at WrestleMania 35 was a great moment. However, undeniably, the star of the show was The Miz’s father George Mizanin, or Miz Dad as he has become affectionately known.

In what was, without doubt, an extremely entertaining match, Miz Dad got involved and stood in front of his son as Shane McMahon was about to deliver an Elbow Drop to the announce table outside the ring.

Shane McMahon then brought George into the ring, and delivered some brutal-looking knee strikes. The way George sold the attack was sensational, and some WWE stars on the roster could learn a thing or two from him. However, George has noted that not only was he not supposed to get into the ring on the “grandest stage of them all”, but he actually suffered a relatively serious injury thanks to Shane.

On the Jobbing Out podcast, George said that there were no plans to have him get in the ring during the match, but Shane told him to follow his lead:

“It’s amazing what they can do with somebody in the ring at WrestleMania and Shane [McMahon] told me… I wasn’t supposed to get in the ring but he told me, ‘Whatever happens, just follow my lead’ as he was calling me into the ring and I thought, ‘What’s going on? I’m not supposed to get in the ring’, and I got in the ring”.

The father of the former WWE Champion added that Shane McMahon’s knee strikes legitimately broke one of his ribs. However, he noted that he landed a punch on Vince McMahon’s son that gave him a black eye:

“[In the ring] that’s where he actually kneed me in the… I broke a rib and I guess I gave him a black eye and I guess Michael had three staples put in his head that day.”
