The WWE King of the Ring tournament is set to begin on tonight’s (October 8) episode of WWE SmackDown, along with the first-ever Queens Crown tournament.
Many fans suspected that the King of the Ring was being teased earlier this year, when Shinsuke Nakamura and King (Baron, Happy) Corbin fought for the crown, a series which Nakamura won, with him wearing the crown and being dubbed ‘King Nakamura’ since.
Given that the tournament is set to crown another new king, Nakamura officially gave up his crown prior to tonight’s show, before saying that he’s no longer king, but he’s the Intercontinental Champion, Shinsuke Nakamura.
In an act of respect to the soon to be King of the Ring, @ShinsukeN has officially given up HIS crown. 👑
