On today’s WWE Q1 earnings call, Stephanie McMahon described the importance of WWE targeting self-identified gamers for their content, including mentioning a new game.
In the earnings call, McMahon said that WWE continues to see good things in the future for their participation in the mobile gaming space with an announcement of “a role-playing game” coming soon.
McMahon also touted the success of the WWE 2k22 game launch to both critical and sales success for the company, mentioning that 2K22 also served as a dual sponsor with Snickers for the wildly stupendous as well as lucrative WrestleMania 38.
Stephanie also discussed that gaming is a priority for WWE because 80% of its audience identify as gamers, and nearly 60% of the gaming audience, in general, are 34 years old or younger.
Elsewhere in the earnings call, Nick Khan discussed a continued partnership between WWE and A&E to create original content.
As previously reported, in March WWE announced that they were continuing to expand their original content partnership with A&E.
