The Usos and New Day on WWE Raw

The Usos have commented on Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of the New Day’s WWE departure that was made official today.

One of the more shocking departures in recent WWE memory took place today, when it was announced that former 12-time tag team champions Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of the New Day would be leaving the company.

Kingston made his WWE main roster debut back in 2008 on the ECW brand, before he would join the New Day in 2014 with Big E and Xavier Woods.

While the initial formation of the New Day was met with a lot of criticism, the trio would go on to become one of the greatest teams in the history of the company in their 11 years together.

The Usos Send Message To New Day Following WWE Departure

The New Day were part of many memorable moments in the company, with their most notable rivalry coming against the Usos back in 2017, which led to the pair having a series of great matches for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, including a Hell In A Cell match at the Hell In A Cell event.

Taking to social media, The Usos sent a message to the New Day following their departures.

They simply wrote:

It was also announced today that Tonga Loa and JC Mateo of the MFTs had left the company.

Reason For New Day’s Sudden WWE Departure

There have been a number of more surprising WWE departures since TKO took over the company back in 2023, with names that many thought would be with the company for the rest of their careers departing, including Dolph Ziggler and R-Truth prior to Truth being re-signed.

The departures seem to come from a change in mentality from TKO, with the company now prioritising younger, cheaper contracts to help balance out a perceived age issue on the WWE main roster.

While the focus on younger talent in recent months, such as Oba Femi and Trick Williams, is definitely a good thing in terms of the company’s future, completely neglecting the more long-term members of the roster has it’s major drawbacks.

With a lot of veteran talent leaving the company, the options for the younger stars on the roster to face off against to help them grow, as well as a decrease in live events, will handicap how fast they can grow to the main roster life.
