Tony Khan has revealed the original plan for Claudio Castagnoli’s debut in Ring of Honor and All Elite Wrestling.
Tony Khan was asked whether or not the original plan for Claudio Castagnoli’s debut was to appear on ROH Death Before Dishonor.
Khan confirmed that it was indeed the original plan, explaining:
“It was the original plan, yeah, he was going to debut here. It would have been a different build to the pay-per-view than what we did and I think in a way everything worked out perfectly.
“You saw the announcement that Bryan Danielson is back and he’s going to be wrestling on Fight for the Fallen against Daniel Garcia who also had a great showing here tonight which I’ll touch on here in a moment… originally my vision when we spoke, Claudio was going to come back at Ring of Honor and debut and he would be a mystery wrestler.
“I think there would have been a lot of anticipation about who it was going to be, but I also think that it would have been a great delivery and I honestly think that you know, if the fans had gotten drawn to the possibility of who could come be associated with Ring of Honor, who is a name who is so important to the history of Ring of Honor and who also certainly I believe the best free agent wrestler in the world, then I believe there would have been a lot of fans assuming, hoping, wishing, wanting it to be Claudio.”
