Top AEW Stars Tease NJPW Return AEW/NJPW

Top AEW stars have teased a potential NJPW return.

At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17, former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega made his return to New Japan for the first time in four years to face Will Ospreay for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship.

With Omega’s long awaited return, some fans have been wondering when Kenny’s Elite stablemates The Young Bucks would also come back to Japan.

In a new interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Matt and Nick Jackson discussed the Wrestle Kingdom 17 event.

The Young Bucks revealed that they got a “fantastic offer” to wrestle and accompany Omega to the ring, but they had already made vacation plans for that week. Nick said:

“We were actually asked to wrestle and be in Kenny’s corner. But Matt and I had vacation plans that week. Maybe next year. Who knows?”

Matt continued on to explain that the timing didn’t work out for this year’s Tokyo Dome event, but he stated he’s sure fans will see The Young Bucks back in NJPW. He said:

“We got a fantastic offer. Personally, the timing and the situation didn’t fit for us. I’m sure one day you’ll see us back in a NJPW ring.”

When asked about Kenny Omega’s bout against Will Ospreay at Wrestle Kingdom 17, Nick said they “killed it” and called the match as a classic.

The Young Bucks were then asked about a potential clash against Omega and his New Year’s Dash surprise tag team partner, IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada.

After Matt said “Bring it” to that potential showdown, Nick went on to say:

“Seeing Okada and Kenny in the ring together gave the wrestling world goosebumps. That tag match would be a dream match, and I’d be down for it.”

The Young Bucks will team with Kenny Omega to face Death Triangle’s PAC, Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix in the Escalera de la Muerte Match 7 for the AEW World Trios Championships on tonight’s AEW Dynamite.
