An update has emerged on Johnny Gargano’s status, amid speculation that he’s set to make a WWE return.
Gargano finished up with WWE in December 2021 after his contract expired. Following Vince McMahon’s departure and Triple H becoming Head of Creative, there have been rumors that Gargano will re-join WWE as Triple H continues to reshape the roster.
Per Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net, sources have indicated that Gargano is indeed open to a WWE return now that Triple H is in charge of creative, and would be interested in talking with Triple H and ‘seeing how things would be changing’. It was also noted that Gargano has been in talks with AEW.
According to the report, the main factor in Gargano leaving was his dissatisfaction with his position in NXT, with no set plan in place for his direction, but it was also noted that the grind and having a child on the way also influenced his decision.
The former NXT Champion hasn’t wrestled since NXT WarGames 2021. During the event, Gargano teamed with Ciampa, LA Knight and Pete Dunne (Butch) to battle Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, Tony D’Angelo & Grayson Waller.
Since taking over WWE creative, Triple H has brought a number of stars back to the company including Dakota Kai, Karrion Kross, Scarlett and the group of Top Dolla, Ashante Adonis & B-fab.
