With WWE Payback set to take place in Pittsburgh tonight (September 2), many had wondered if WWE would host a post-show press conference similar to those done in the past.
WWE held conferences after both Money In The Bank and SummerSlam, but it seems as though there won’t be one for tonight’s Payback event.
Per Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, there won’t be a press conference tonight after Payback, and they can mainly be expected after the ‘big 5’ premium live events (including Money In The Bank), as well as international events going forward.
Payback is set to be WWE’s first domestic B-show premium live event in 2023, previously hosting Elimination Chamber in Montreal, Backlash in Puerto Rico, Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia and Money In The Bank in London.
Tonight’s show will see John Cena serve as the host following his return on last night’s SmackDown.
The main event of the show will see Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura.
The show will also feature Cody Rhodes appearing on the ‘Grayson Waller Effect’.
I’m told by WWE there won’t be a press conference tonight after Payback and to expect them mainly for the big 5 (WM, Rumble, SSlam, SSeries, MITB) and international PLEs going forward.
