Just because the cameras stop rolling does not mean the action stops. That was true again this Tuesday, as after SmackDown Live (and 205 Live) went off air, WWE Champion AJ Styles was set to defend his championship against Shinsuke Nakamura.
Before Nakamura could finish his entrance, though, Styles jumped him from behind, and beat him down. This inexplicably brought out The Bar, who came to Nakamura’s aid and began attacking the champ. A couple of “good brothers” came down to defend Styles and chased the heels away.
After the fact, Styles grabbed the mic and thanked the audience for being “Too Sweet”. He then walked to the back with his former Bullet Club brethren and the crowd went home.
Styles and Nakamura will collide again at Money in the Bank on June 17. This time, it will be in a Last Man Standing match for the WWE Championship.
