“CM Punk return confirmed!” is an exclamation that WrestleTalk’s very own Oli Davis made his own, often ironically, as rumours of CM Punk potentially returning to wrestling built up week after week for what seemed to be forever.
But then, last week, those same words weren’t ironic at all.
Punk made a surprise (unless you’d read the reports weeks prior) return on WWE Backstage on FS1, which basically sent the internet into an absolute meltdown of excitement, shock and awe.
And, naturally, those saying he should have gone to AEW instead.
The ‘Voice of the Voiceless’ made his first real panel appearance on last night’s episode of the show hosted by Renee Young and Booker T, and did not disappoint, offering his honest opinions on a number of topics. We’ll be covering some of the more controversial comments he made on the site throughout the day.
Before he got to that though, a video compilation of internet reactions to his return was played, featuring that of our very own Oli Davis:
My CM Punk return video was used in WWE Backstage, which means he might ask me around for pizza and movies and we can talk about comics and go to farmer's markets when we've got free Sunday mornings OH MY GOD IT'S REALLY HAPPENING

Categorical evidence that screaming the same thing over and over again, even during times when such a thing doesn’t seem possible, does eventually pay off.
Hopefully “Otis for WWE Champion!” is his next one.
