Upcoming WWE Vs. AEW Head-To-Head Confirmed

Upcoming WWE Vs. AEW Head-To-Head Confirmed WWE, AEW

Over two years removed from the ‘Wednesday Night Wars’ between AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT, the two leading pro-wrestling companies in the world are set to go head-to-head once again in October.

The news comes from Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, who details that Major League Baseball’s playoffs, due to start on October 3, will force AEW to move Dynamite away from its Wednesday night slot over to a Tuesday, where it will once again go against NXT.

The change in question will specifically affect the October 11 edition of Dynamite, from Independence, Missouri, with the show now taking place a day prior on October 10.

While AEW have done this in the past to favourable results, Meltzer questions whether NXT’s recent success, which on rare occasions have even beaten certain Dynamite numbers, could paint a very different picture this time around, especially if WWE chooses to load up the card due to AEW’s shared presence.

Meltzer details:

The 10/11 Dynamite show will be moved to 10/10, a Tuesday head-to-head with NXT, and be from Independence, MO.

I expect NXT to really load up the show because of history and competition and being in the familiar time slot NXT would have one advantage, although in previous moves to Tuesday AEW did better but NXT is now on a roll.

On 10/11 TBS will be airing Major League baseball playoffs. That is the only TBS playoff game on a Wednesday.

The MLB playoffs are scheduled to take place between October 3 and October 27 on TBS, with Meltzer detailing how this will affect AEW’s other programs Collision and Rampage as well as WWE’s.

Meltzer continues:

Because TBS is airing the playoffs, Rampage and Collision have no baseball playoff preemptions but they will go head-to-head with baseball playoffs, as will Raw, NXT and Smackdown, from 10/3 until whenever the World Series ends which would be end of October or as late as 11/3.

This past Tuesday’s NXT (August 8) saw Judgment Day’s Dominik Mysterio, with Rhea Ripley in his corner, defending his North American Championship against Dragon Lee, with Rey Mysterio in his corner.

‘Dirty’ Dom’s appearances in NXT have seen the show produce some of its highest viewership in years – to track this week’s NXT ratings as well as previous weeks, check out this link here.
