WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H has addressed a championship changing hands at Saturday’s (May 4) Backlash show.
While several championship matches were contested at this weekend’s premium live event, only one title change took place.
Following their recent feud with Damage CTRL, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill defeated Asuka and Kairi Sane to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.
Not only is this Cargill’s first title reign in WWE, this is the first time that Belair has been a Women’s Tag Team Champion.
Triple H has now taken to Twitter to share a photo with Belair and Cargill.
Congratulating the duo, Triple H captioned the post:
Quite possibly the biggEST storm to ever hit this division.
Congratulations to @BiancaBelairWWE & @Jade_Cargill, your NEW WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. #WWEBacklash
After signing with WWE in September 2023, Cargill made her WWE in-ring debut in January’s Royal Rumble match.
She went on to join the SmackDown brand, and was officially selected to SmackDown during this month’s WWE Draft.
Another WWE star has criticised the Backlash crowd for being ‘selfish’, which you can read more about right here.
