At WWE Payback, Rhea Ripley sported ring gear inspired by Hall of Famer Chyna and the official account of the late star has commented.
On the September 2 premium live event, Ripley defended her Women’s World Championship against Raquel Rodriguez, highlights of which can be seen below this news story.
In response to a tweet highlighting Ripley’s tribute, the official Twitter page of Chyna, real name Joan Marie Laurer, replied:
“We here at Team Joanie loved your tribute to the 9th wonder of the world. Chyna would (have) loved it.”
When a fan tweeted to Ripley that she “would never be” Chyna, Ripley replied:
And me quote tweeting this will be the ONLY time you are relevant in your life, so enjoy it.
It’s a tribute you dumb bi*ch
Chyna was a two-time WWE Intercontinental Champion becoming the only woman to have held that championship.
She would also be the first woman to qualify for the King of the Ring Tournament and the first woman to be number one contender for the WWE Championship.
Chyna passed away on April 20, 2016 at the age of 46.
A member of D-Generation X, she was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame with the group as part of the Class of 2019.
