WWE star CM Punk will make his MMA commentary return on Friday June 26, as announced by Cage Fury Fighting Championships.

CFFC – who CM Punk first called the action for in 2018 – announced that CM Punk will make his “long-awaited homecoming to the booth” for CFFC 156: Stanford Lewis, which will see Jackson Stanford face Bevon Lewis for the company’s interim heavyweight championship.

CFFC shared the following announcement on its official site:

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – For the first time in 2026, the legendary CM Punk will return to the Cage Fury Fighting Championships broadcast team.

The seven-time WWE world champion and two-time UFC veteran will make his long-awaited homecoming to the booth for “CFFC 156: Stanford Lewis” on Friday, June 26 from Illinois’ Hard Rock Casino Rockford, just outside of Punk’s hometown of Chicago.

Punk has served as color commentator for CFFC since 2018, a run that included a brief retirement from professional wrestling, as well as a stint with All Elite Wrestling, where he also claimed a world championship. His CFFC appearances have been more sparing since a 2023 return to WWE, though the promotion’s debut in his home state proved impossible to pass up.

Punk will once again work alongside CFFC General Manager and longtime MMA journalist John Morgan on the broadcast.

Punk served as a color commentator for CFFC before his WWE return in 2023, and his return to wrestling in general as part of AEW in 2021.

Punk actually teased his wrestling return on the CFFC 99 show on August 14, 2021, when he stated that a competitor looked “All Elite” after fellow commentator John Morgan put emphasis on a line about the competitor “returning to his wrestling”.

This ended up being less than a week before his AEW debut, with Punk appearing on the August 20, 2021 Rampage: The First Dance show.

With Punk having not wrestled since losing the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42 in April, there has been a lot of speculation about his status and future.

Punk being announced for such a public appearance will no-doubt fuel rumors and speculation, which the WWE star will likely reference to rile up fans on June 26.
