An update has emerged on WWE canceling an upcoming SmackDown taping, with more details emerging on the show which now won’t take place.

One of several TV tapings announced by WWE on May 7, the September 4 SmackDown live taping now won’t go ahead, with the event’s cancellation announced by Ticketmaster.

With WWE’s ticket page now no longer showing a listing for September 4,

Per Dave Meltzer in Friday’s (June 19) Wrestling Observer Daily Update, there were “logistical issues and production related issues” surrounding this show.

There will reportedly still be an episode of SmackDown which airs on September 4. While Meltzer stated that the episode would likely be taped following either the Friday before in Cleveland, or after that Monday’s Raw taping, he clarified that this decision has not been finalized.

The report pointed out that canceling this show also gives talent the Friday ahead of Labor Day off.

There will notably be a Sunday Night’s Main Event special on September 6 at the State Farm arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

On Labor Day, September 7, WWE Raw will emanate from Birmingham, Alabama, at the Legacy Arena.

The canceled show was set to take place just over a month out from Money in the Bank, with the date of that event recently being changed from September 6 to Saturday, October 10.

This premium live event will emanate from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.

With there now being more time between September 4 and Money in the Bank, pre-taping this episode of SmackDown on its own does make sense if there were logistical issues surrounding it being live.

With it not being a go-home episode for a PLE, as it would have been if Money in the Bank remained on September 6, other shows can help carry the weight of the build towards October 10.
