Top Name Felt ‘Out Of Their League’ At WWE Elimination Chamber WWE

WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix has opened up about her return to the ring at Elimination Chamber 2023.

At the February 18 premium live event, Phoenix teamed with Edge to face off against Rhea Ripley and Finn Balor of the Judgment Day.

The Grit Couple were ultimately victorious, with Edge and Phoenix interestingly using a Shatter Machine to put Finn Balor away.

This bout marked Phoenix’ first match since teaming with Edge to defeat The Miz and Maryse over a year prior at Royal Rumble 2022.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Phoenix noted that she felt intimidated ahead of her Elimination Chamber bout, believing that Ripley and Balor are both at the top of their games.

Discussing her return, Phoenix said:

“It was challenging. I try to put in the time when I can.

“We have a ring here in Asheville and everybody helps me to kind of stay a little bit in the know, but as you all know, no amount of cardio, no amount of lifting weights, no amount of training in the gym can substitute for being in the ring.

“So I was extremely intimidated especially to be in there with two talents like Finn and Rhea that are firing on all cylinders, and I mean, just at the top of their game, that I definitely felt out of my league, like I felt underwater and very, very nervous to get in there.

“Even Adam (Edge), he works pretty regularly and gets in the ring really regularly and it’s intimidating to be in there with him even though he’s my husband, but his experience level and with everything that he’s done in his life and his career, I was nervous as hell.

“I did not want to be the weak link in that match because the other three, and Dominik too. I give Dom his props.”

Phoenix also confirmed her status for WrestleMania 39, which you can read about right here.

Edge notably challenged for Austin Theory’s US Championship on the February 20 edition of Raw, losing to Theory following interference from Finn Balor. This bout marked Edge’s first pinfall loss in over 500 days.
