WWE Feared Montez Ford May Be Off SummerSlam Due To Injury WWE

Earlier this week, WWE reportedly feared that Montez Ford would be unable to compete at SummerSlam on Saturday (July 30).

At the Biggest Party of the Summer, Ford & Angelo Dawkins are slated to challenge for The Usos’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, with Jeff Jarrett acting as the special referee for the bout.

Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there had been some concern that the match would be called off, following Montez Ford being ‘knocked loopy’ during the Riddle & Street Profits vs Bloodline bout on WWE Raw.

Noting that Ford is currently expected to compete at SummerSlam, Meltzer said:

“Montez Ford was also knocked loopy during that match but shook it off and continued the match. It was feared he suffered a broken nose but he’s expected to be wrestling Saturday.”

WWE has been putting over Montez Ford specifically on commentary during his tag matches in recent weeks, fuelling speculation that the company is preparing to push Ford as a singles star.

Riddle, who was originally slated to face Seth Rollins, was recently pulled from SummerSlam, following an attack at the hands of Rollins. A recent report has indicated that Riddle’s injury is a work, which you can read more about right here.
