A WWE Hall of Famer has discussed the possibility of wrestling one last match with a former rival who recently discussed retirement.

ECW legend Sabu recently spoke about a potential retirement match, noting that he was hoping to set up a final match to take place this Summer.

He said:

“I’m actually hopefully setting up for my final match. I wanna do maybe a final match maybe in July or later. A real final match. Just one more pay-off.”

Speaking on his 1 of a Kind podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam spoke about Sabu’s potential retirement match, noting that he believes he could pull it off.

He said:

“Absolutely, it can happen. [I’ve] Definitely seen wrestlers in worse conditions than Sabu pull it off, a lot of guys have done their whole careers in worse condition than Sabu is with less mobility.”

Sabu had previously mentioned that he wanted RVD to be his opponent in his retirement match, and RVD discussed the possibility of doing so.

He said that he once believed the two could wrestle each other in both men’s retirement match, but now he doesn’t believe that to be true, as he doesn’t see that being his retirement match.

He said:

“It was an idea that seemed like it might be feasible 10 years ago, maybe longer. I just figured he would wrestle himself into the ground, and since I’m a little bit younger, maybe it would just work out that way.

“I don’t see it being my retirement match if I am able to be a part of it, but, of course, I would be honored and thrilled if I am his opponent.”
