Men’s WWE ID Champion Chazz “Starboy” Hall has been removed from a Big Time Wrestling event, with AEW star Aaron Solo getting a new opponent.

July 17 would have seen Chazz “Starboy” Hall challenge Aaron Solo for the BTW World Championship at Big Time Wrestling’s Misery Business show, with that match announced on May 22.

Big Time Wrestling have confirmed that Hall has been removed from the show due to “contractual obligations”, tweeting:

“🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨

“Due to contractual obligations, Chazz β€œStarboy” Hall is no longer able to appear at Misery Business.”

The post would go on to confirm that Hall is being replaced by Matt Sydal, himself signed to AEW and a former WWE star known as Evan Bourne, stating:

“Matt Sydal will now face Aaron Solo for the BTW World Championship!”

Sydal previously defended the TNA Wrestling X-Division Championship in March 2018 at two crossover shows with BTW, retaining at both events against Eddie Edwards.

Those Pesky Contractual Obligations

The WWE ID program sees independent wrestling stars able to continue to work on the scene, while benefiting from the mentorship and coaching that the TKO-owned company provides.

With WWE Evolve launching in March of last year, many stars signed under the Independent Development program have found their way onto the pre-recorded Tubi show, with a number also heading to NXT.

While it is possible that the ‘contractual obligations’ relate to a WWE Evolve taping, it isn’t clear if that is the case at the time of writing.

Hall isn’t the only WWE ID signee to have been withdrawn for the ‘contractual obligations’ reason, either, with Evolve Men’s Champion Aaron Rourke also being pulled from a Limitless Wrestling event that took place on June 20.

For stars signed to WWE ID, the opportunities are clear, particularly as they seek the possibility of signing a contract with the company that many dream of joining.

Stars being withdrawn from already announced matches and appearances, however, leaves a bit of a sour taste for the fans who may be missing the chance to see one of their favorites, even if WWE isn’t responsible for whatever the ‘contractual obligation’ may be.

Limitless Wrestling, after being asked if they’d stop using WWE ID talent having lost Rourke for a show, would respond by suggesting that they wouldn’t drop stars just because of their contract, clearly seeing the benefit to their promotion and the fans that they serve.

There’s a plethora of independent wrestling talent around the world at the time of writing, and opportunities exist to fill the gaps left by those who sign contracts with any major company.
