WWE WrestleMania 42 saw an emotional moment between Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar after the Beast Incarnate lost to Oba Femi.

With Brock Lesnar removing his boots and gloves after his match at WrestleMania 42, he would share an embrace with his advocate, Paul Heyman, although it wasn’t clear what the pair had said to each other.

Paul Heyman has now provided details of the conversation that took place during that moment during an appearance on Insight With Chris Van Vliet, revealing:

“I thanked him for everything. He thanked me for everything. I told him that I love him. He told me that he loves me. Then I asked him if he finds it funny that the two of us are standing in the middle of the ring, in the middle of the stadium, in the middle of WrestleMania, being broadcast all over ESPN, telling each other that we love each other. I said, ‘This is kind of a surreal moment.’ He goes, ‘F**k them! Don’t worry about that, this is just for us.’ Okay, my beast.

“Happy to happen, happy to participate in the moment. It was just a very personal moment that we were not hesitant to share with the rest of the world. It was a very emotional moment.”

While it seemed that Lesnar had retired at WrestleMania 42, it would transpire that is not the case, with the veteran star recently competing at Clash in Italy with a win over Oba Femi.

Addressing the continuing presence of Brock Lesnar in WWE, Lesnar would confirm that the star is still competing, with Van Vliet asking what should be made of that moment at WrestleMania 42, and Heyman responding:

“Remember how I felt if I’m an audience member. I would remember how I felt watching it. I’d remember what that moment was.

“I remember all that it encompassed, and I would be appreciative of the fact that I got to live that moment and experience it and hold it in my data bank as a fan.”

Brock Lesnar recently saw praise from Goldberg for their WWE feud, who described the star as “a guy who could take it if I hit him”.

More Than Just A Story

Emotions can run high in the wrestling world, whether it be in WWE, AEW or any other promotion around the world.

For all the professionalism of the stars involved, sometimes human nature takes over and we get a moment like that between Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman, reminding us that, at the end of the day, there are people behind the bombastic characters.

Back in May 1996, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall competed in their final match as WWF  stars, with Diesel taking on Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon facing Hunter Hearst Helmsley. Known collectively as The Kliq, all four stars would take to the ring after the main event, embracing in a moment referred to as “The Curtain Call.” Seeing the heels and faces embrace in the ring was quite the scene for those in attendance at the house show, and the moment would go down in infamy.

November of the following year would see a very different emotional moment, still involving Shawn Michaels and, to a degree, Triple H, with the Montreal Screwjob taking place at Survivor Series in 1997. Bret Hart would lose the WWF Championship to Shawn Michaels, with The Hitman taking exception to his treatment, as he prepared to leave the company behind. Anger would be expressed, punches would be thrown and bitterness would reign supreme for years to come.

These are far from the only incidents where an emotional moment has played out in the ring, but they were arguably instrumental in pulling back the curtain for an era of fans, showing that the stars they adored were more than just the characters they saw on television every week.
