Brock Lesnar Seemingly Retires After Emphatic Loss To Oba Femi At WWE WrestleMania 42 WWE

Oba Femi has scored the win in the opening match of WWE WrestleMania 42 night two, defeating Brock Lesnar, with Lesnar seemingly retiring afterwards.

Femi established early that he could go toe to toe with Lesnar, not going down from consecutive Lesnar clothesline, before sending Lesnar down with one of his own.

Lesnar managed to turn things around temporarily with a couple of German suplexes and an F-5, but Femi got back to his feet, landed a Fall From Grace, and pinned Lesnar flat to the mat.

No shenanigans or question marks – Oba Femi straight up defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania.

Lesnar stayed laid out in the ring for minutes on end after the match while Femi was celebrating up the ramp.

After Femi had left, Lesnar began crying in the ring and took off his gloves and boots, which usually signifies retirement.

He then hugged Paul Heyman to “Thank you Brock” and “Thank you Lesnar” chants from the crowd.

Oba Femi Defeating Brock Lesnar Carries Weight Like Lesnar Ending The Undertaker’s Streak

By Dave Adamson

If ever there was a standard for a powerhouse star in WWE, it’s a victory over Brock Lesnar, and that’s exactly what Oba Femi delivered.

With reports that Brock Lesnar could be retiring as a WWE star later this year, a victory for The Beast Incarnate does little to elevate his own career. By contrast, Oba Femi getting the win sends exactly the right message when it comes to the standarding of the young powerhouse.

Being able to confidently step into the ring with a star the caliber of Lesnar is one thing, but being able to perform at that level when facing a highly decorated former champion who isn’t renowned for his showboating and grandstanding is something else.

Oba Femi is a two-time WWE NXT Champion

Very much like Lesnar ending The Undertaker’s legendary streak at WrestleMania 30 in April 2014, this win is something that Femi can use to shape his future in WWE, far beyond his current undefeated run since joining the main roster earlier this year.

Sure wins over Kit Wilson, Joaquin Wilde, The Miz, Johnny Gargano and Rusev are not to be sniffed at, but they don’t hit the same way as being able to say “I defeated Brock Lesnar, the seven-time WWE Champion and three-time Universal Champion”, not to forget that he is also held the UFC Heavyweight Championship, to boot.

A single victory that sets Femi up as a force to be reckoned with in the WWE ring, let’s hope the direction he now finds his career going continues to be as dominant.
