Cody Rhodes came up short in his attempt to ‘finish the story’ back at WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles, when he was defeated by Roman Reigns in the main event of night two of the show.
Cody’s desire for the title and eventual defeat reminded a lot of fans of the story of Lex Luger 30 years prior, with him being unable to wrestle the WWE Championship away from champion Yokozuna.
Speaking on his Lex Expressed podcast, Luger himself discussed Cody’s situation, where he questioned whether or not Cody missed his moment with his defeat this year.
He said:
“There is a lot to say for seizing the moment. Cody had a lot of momentum. Sometimes, you have to seize the moment. Now, we see other stars rising up. There’s talk of The Rock coming in.
“Cody, I think he’s one of the best workers, the best interview. His costuming is immaculate. I love Cody Rhodes, but I’m a little concerned for him. I know he’s very confident and I don’t know about the storyline they have for him, but maybe he missed his moment there. So, we shall see. To be continued. I hope not.”
Cody and Jey Uso captured the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship at the Fastlane premium live event on Saturday night.
