A pair of main roster WWE stars made a surprise appearance on this week’s NXT to back up a current champion on the brand.
Following Dragon Lee’s latest defence of the NXT North American Championship against Joe Coffey and Charlie Dempsey, the fighting champion found himself the subject of a four-on-one attack at the hands of Dempsey’s allies in the No Quarter Catch Crew.
Dempsey, Drew Gulak, Myles Borne and Damon Kemp all laid out Lee after he successfully retained his gold, with the champion in dire straights.
That was until SmackDown stars and the LWO’s own Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro returned to NXT to make the save for their ally and fend off his attackers.
Wilde would take to Twitter following NXT to further enforce his support for Lee, saying:
We got your back like chiropractors @dragonlee95
Despite Lee not being an official member of the LWO, he has been known to side with the team, even recently fighting on the injured Rey Mysterio’s behalf at Survivor Series 2023 against Santos Escobar.
While his issues with the LWO remain, Escobar has got a big opportunity ahead of him at this week’s SmackDown (December 22) as he faces Bobby Lashley in the semi-finals of the United States Championship tournament.
Due to the festive season approaching, this week’s SmackDown has already been taped, meaning spoilers are available for the show.
