WWE Match Called Off Due To Concern For Wrestler Safety

WWE Match Called Off Due To Concern For Wrestler Safety WWE

UPDATE: There has been a positive update from WWE on Austin Theory and Carmelo Hayes. You can click here to read more about that.

A WWE match on SmackDown (January 12) was called off after a big move left officials concerned for both wrestlers safety.

While SmackDown was on the air tonight, a scary moment led to a match being stopped with concern for both of the men in that match.

NXT star Carmelo Hayes popped by SmackDown, making an appearance first in a backstage segment seeking a slot in the Royal Rumble from Nick Aldis.

When Austin Theory and Grayson Waller joined the scene however and attempted to block Melo from the opportunity, instead a match was made for tonight between Theory and Hayes.

However there wouldn’t end up being a conclusive winner to the match after it was stopped by the referee after a big move.

With both men coming down from the ropes and landing in positions that appeared to be less than ideal, the referee determined that the match was stopped immediately.

The show went on, with the cameras throwing to commentary with Corey Graves noting that similarly to other sports, injuries can happen.

Everyone at WrestleTalk wishes all the best to both Carmelo Hayes and Austin Theory.
