Update After WWE Match Stopped Due To Concern For Wrestler Safety WWE

An update on WWE stars Carmelo Hayes and Austin Theory after a SmackDown match was stopped with concern for their safety.

While SmackDown was on the air tonight, a scary moment led to a match being stopped with concern for both of the men in that match.

NXT star Carmelo Hayes made an appearance on SmackDown, first in a backstage segment seeking a slot in the Royal Rumble from Nick Aldis.

However after old foe Grayson Waller and his bestie Austin Theory also popped up in the scene, a match was made by Aldis for Hayes and Theory.

There would not end up being a conclusive winner to the match after it was stopped by the referee after a big move.

With both men coming down from the ropes and landing in positions that appeared to be less than ideal, the referee determined that the match was stopped immediately.

Now in an update from WWE, it sounds as though both men have been evaluated and are safe.

WWE wrote on Twitter:

“UPDATE: Following their match tonight on #SmackDown, @_Theory1 and @Carmelo_WWE
were evaluated for injuries. They both suffered face contusions, and will both be okay.”

Excellent news!
