In the wake of Nikolai Volkoff’s recent passing, WWE has added a collection of his greatest matches and moments to the WWE Network.
Nikolai had several stints with the different incarnations of the promotion. He wrestled for Vince McMahon, Sr. in the WWWF. He came back to the WWF to work for Vince McMahon in the 80’s and 90’s and is probably best know for his tag team with the Iron Sheik, and his less than stellar rendition of the Russian National Anthem. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005.
The collection spans his entire time in WWF, including several appearances following his HOF induction. Highlights include wrestling Andre The Giant, a 6-Man Tag Team Match (Nikolai Volkoff, the Iron Sheik, and George “The Animal” Steele vs. Barry Windham, Mike Rotunda, and Ricky Steamboat) and only in a world run by Vince McMahon, a match where Nikolai represents the USA and it’s flag against Iran sympathizer, Sgt. Slaughter.
You can also check out Nikolai’s Hall of Fame speech, his table for 3 spot, and an appearance in a Gimmick Battle Royal from WrestleMania X7.
For any wrestling fan from the 80’s, Nikolai will be remembered as on of the biggest villains of their childhood and as a lovable character later in his career. He was a true legend and will be missed by all that love wrestling.
