WWE Raw in Brief: July 9 2018

Here’s what happened on the go-home Raw for Extreme Rules

Drew McIntyre pinned Seth Rollins with a Claymore in a superb match. Rollins turned into Drew’s kick after stopping Dolph Ziggler from interfering with the Curb Stomp. By virtue of his win, McIntyre is not banned from ringside for Sunday’s Intercontinental Title Iron Man Match between Ziggler and Rollins. This was set up earlier in the night by a really good confrontation promo segment involving Rollins, Ziggler and McIntyre. Their rivalry feels fresh and the in-ring quality is top notch. More please.

Incidentally, Jinder Mahal and Sunil Singh also tried to teach Seth Rollins the ways of inner peace on this show. O….kay.

Bobby Lashley and Roman Reigns bumped into each other backstage to begin a show-long story. Lashley warned that if Reigns called him out, he’d tear him apart. So Reigns went to the ring and called Lashley out. Bobby emerged. But so did Kurt Angle and Constable Corbin. Angle told them to save it for Extreme Rules. So Lashley and Reigns ignored them and began brawling. The entire locker room emptied to separate them. But they couldn’t and the fight carried on until eventually Lashley was dragged away…then Reigns hit a dive on top of everyone to a rousing reaction. The fans were ridiculously hot for this. Later Renee Young interviewed Lashley who said he had “zero respect” for Roman. Renee then spoke to ‘The Big Dog’ who said he had the “killer instinct” to beat “Bob”. Lashley’s promo was much better than Roman’s but generally the build-up for Sunday’s match was very good.

Ember Moon pinned Liv Morgan with a bridging cradle.
