WWE Raw name has questioned Daniel Cormier’s upcoming debut at Extreme Rules.
It was revealed over the weekend that UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier would make his WWE debut as the special guest referee for the Fight Pit Match at Extreme Rules on October 8.
On the October 3 edition of WWE Raw, Cormier made an appearance in a video message to the Fight Pit participants, Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle.
Speaking on the latest MMA on SiriusXM, Raw commentator Jimmy Smith said that he believed that Daniel Cormier started on the wrong foot by introducing himself.
He asked:
“When he said ‘I’m Daniel Cormier’ did you hear anything? If that had been The Rock, that would’ve popped like crazy. ‘I’m The Rock’ popped like crazy. When he went ‘I’m Daniel Cormier,’ I turned around, and crickets.”
Smith continued on to further explain why he now questions Cormier’s future in the company, saying:
“When he first popped on the screen, I expected, I don’t know, something, and the crowd just didn’t really react. When he goes, ‘I’m Daniel Cormier,’ look at this crowd. They really didn’t react very much. I’m in the bubble of MMA, and the bubble of professional wrestling, that was a great indication of WWE fans — at least the ones that were there — didn’t really seem to react much.”
Jimmy Smith further discussed the WWE schedule being too much for Cormier in the long term.
The Fight Pit Match will join Bianca Belair vs. Bayley in a ladder match for the Raw Women’s Championship, Drew McIntyre vs. Karrion Kross in a Strap Match and more at this Saturday’s show.
