Commentary Change On WWE Raw Season Premiere

Commentary Change On WWE Raw Season Premiere WWE

UPDATE: The real reason for tonight’s change has been revealed – click here for more.

For tonight’s Season Premiere of WWE Raw (October 16), a shakeup on the commentary team.

With Wade Barrett joined on commentary by Kevin Patrick in lieu of Barrett’s typical partner Cole, it seems Cole has finally gotten an elusive day off!

Referenced recently in an in-ring interview segment with Seth Rollins, Michael Cole has so infrequently missed work over the past two plus decades, he could empathize with the WWE Heavyweight Champion’s desire to work.

It was said in the segment that in 26 years with WWE, Michael Cole had only missed two shows – that number is now three.

Kevin Patrick noted upon the opening of the WWE Raw season premiere that he was ‘filling in for Michael Cole’, so this doesn’t seem to be a permanent change.

This will be Patrick’s first time on main roster commentary without Corey Graves by his side, as Patrick and Graves were Raw’s two-man team for a while, before they both moved over to SmackDown alongside Cole as a trio.

Sami Zayn kicked off the show with an in-ring promo discussing Kevin Owens’ recent trade to WWE SmackDown before he was interrupted by Judgment Day. Jey Uso saved Zayn before Judgment Day could attack.
