WWE Senior Vice President of Live Events ‘Road Dogg’ Brian James has made a bold prediction for Damian Priest’s future.

Priest has held two titles since arriving in WWE in 2020. The former ‘Punishment Martinez’ won the NXT North American Championship in August 2020, before going on to become US Champion a year later.

Speaking on his Oh You Didn’t Know podcast, Brian James praised Priest for his progress while with WWE.

Believing that Priest has the potential to become WWE’s top champion, James said:

“I’ll tell you who’s really impressed me the most lately is Damian Priest, he has come so far. You can say what you want about Dom Mysterio. He’s got the most heat than anybody in the company right now.

“I see the live events and read the reports, so I know. He’s actually coming into his own and the in-ring stuff too, and really hanging out with the right crowd, that’s for dang sure and doing the right things.

“Think about the people that Damian Priest is surrounded by, Finn Balor, Rhea, Dom, he’s even in that group stepping out and shining.

“I predict he’ll be a Universal Champion one day. I do believe that and I believe he could carry it.”

Roman Reigns is currently recognised as the WWE Undisputed Universal Champion, after unifying the WWE and Universal titles at WrestleMania 38 in April 2022.

Reigns is slated to defend his gold against Sami Zayn at this month’s Elimination Chamber premium live event, ahead of Cody Rhodes challenging for the gold at WrestleMania 39 in April.
