Former WWE Intercontinental and United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura has been off TV for months, and we finally have an update.
Nakamura hasn’t even wrestled for WWE at all since January, and hasn’t wrestled on WWE TV since way back in November when he lost to Santos Escobar in the World Cup tournament.
There’s been no explanation to date for Nakamura’s absence, and the last time he was really in any kind of spotlight was when he wrestled pending Hall of Famer the Great Muta for NOAH on January 1.
Dave Meltzer has provided something of an update in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, writing:
“Regarding questions about Nakamura, we’re told he’s on hold until after WrestleMania.”
There’s still no word on exactly why Nakamura is “on hold” at the moment.
He is in Los Angeles for WrestleMania festivities but isn’t on the Mania card and also isn’t in the Andre The Giant battle royal on SmackDown.
Muta posted a few pics with WWE stars a few hours ago, and one of those was with Nakamura:
