Next Friday’s edition of SmackDown was taped following last night’s live episode, due to WWE talents needing to travel to Saudi Arabia next week for Elimination Chamber.
Advertised for the Elimination Chamber go-home show was an Intercontinental Championship bout, with Sami Zayn challenging champion Shinsuke Nakamura. A face-to-face segment featuring Roman Reigns and Goldberg, ahead of their Universal Title bout, had also been announced.
Here’s what happened on the show (via F4WOnline):
- The face-to-face between Roman Reigns and Goldberg opened the show. No fighting took place as the two exchanged words.
- Ricochet def. Sheamus
- Sami Zayn def. Shinsuke Nakamura (c) – Intercontinental Championship
- Ivar def. Jimmy Uso
- Drew McIntyre, Madcap Moss, and Happy Corbin had a promo segment
- Extended promos between Roman Reigns and Goldberg for Elimination Chamber
- Contract signing between the teams of Ronda Rousey & Naomi and Charlotte Flair & Sonya Deville. Rousey threw the SmackDown Women’s title at Flair before a brawl broke out. The show ended with Rousey & Naomi flipping the table on Flair and Deville, eventually clearing the ring.
