WWE Star To Compete In Home Country For First Time In Five Years WWE

A WWE star has been confirmed to be competing in front of their home audience for the first time in five years.

As announced via WWE.com, the upcoming May 2 international WWE live event from the Wiener Stadthalle Halle D in Vienna, Austria is now set to see a major new attraction.

That being the Intercontinental Champion, and Vienna’s own GUNTHER, who is now officially set to appear on the show.

This will be The Ring General’s first opportunity to compete in his home country as a main roster star, and yet another special European event in a year that also includes Backlash in France and Bash in Berlin in Germany.

The event will also mark WWE’s first trip to the Austrian capital since November 11, 2019, an event which saw GUNTHER feature in a United Kingdom Championship match against JD McDonagh.

As well as GUNTHER, other stars confirmed for the show include Cody Rhodes, Bianca Belair, Randy Orton, IYO SKY, LA Knight, Bobby Lashley, Kevin Owens, Jey Uso and Drew McIntyre.

While not confirmation, McIntyre’s listing for the event provides further evidence that the Scotsman is expected to be staying in WWE past his reported contract expiry following WrestleMania 40.
