WWE Star Received ‘Great Ovation’ Backstage After Recent Championship Win

A popular up-and-coming WWE star has received a “great ovation” backstage following their recent championship win.

At NXT Battleground on Sunday, May 28, Tiffany Stratton not only won the NXT Women’s Championship but also became the 100th woman in WWE to hold championship gold.

The victory over Lyra Valkyria saw Stratton congratulated by Charlotte Flair, herself a former NXT Women’s Champion having held the belt on two occasions.

Stratton has previously said that it was Charlotte Flair that got her interested in wrestling.

According to Fightful Select (subscription required), there was a positive response to Stratton’s match against Valkyria backstage, too.

Fightful Select reports that Stratton “received a great ovation backstage.”

The WWE NXT Twitter account shared footage of Stratton returning backstage after her match, showing her receive applause from Matt Bloom among others and being embraced by Shawn Michaels.

Stratton was recently added to the WWE.com ‘Superstars’ page banner, suggesting that the company sees her as a major star.

She has credited Natalya for helping her develop as a wrestler in the WWE developmental system.

Stratton has also described the routine in the WWE Performance Center saying that it “is definitely very hard to get accustomed to.”
