WWE Star Had ‘Run-Ins’ With Trainer Over ‘Attitude’

WWE Star Had ‘Run-Ins’ With Trainer Over ‘Attitude’ WWE

Greg Gagne, son of Verne Gagne, has affectionately revealed the “run-ins” he had with WWE’s Tiffany Stratton over her “attitude”.

Before she joined the WWE Performance Center, Stratton’s mother had put her in touch with Gagne.

With a bit of persuasion, the former AWA International Television Championship agreed to take her under his wing.

Stratton’s appearance in the Royal Rumble on January 27, led to some revelations on the Gagne & Magnum podcast, with Greg sharing his light-hearted history with the star, saying:

“I had some run-ins with her. She’s got an attitude. She thinks a lot of herself. She came in one day and I had two other guys there that I was training at the time – JDX and Rampage Savage. They were in there and they’re busting their asses. She comes in and I said, ‘Come on, let’s get in here, let’s get going’.

“(She said) ‘Aw, you know, I’m so tired today’, and she laid down next to the ring. And I said, ‘Well I’ll tell you what – just get your stuff on and get out of here, and don’t come back’ (laughs). ‘What?!’ I said, ‘You heard me, don’t come back. I’m doing this, your parents asked me to do it, I’m doing it for nothing, I’m spending all my time in here, and you come in here and tell me you’re tired? How about these two guys? They’ve been on the road all night, they’re in here, they’re busting their asses, so pack up and go home’.

“So she left for about 10 minutes then came back and apologized and that. So we continued that session.

“We’re doing it at Ken Anderson’s place – Ken’s got this nice setup where we can train people, so I’d come in privately with her and bring in the other two guys so we had someone to work with.

“She came in again and she gave me another attitude on something we were doing, some move, I said, ‘Come on, you can do that, these guys can do it, you can do it’. (She said) ‘But I… and… it’s hurting’.

“I said, ‘Well then pack up your s**t and get out of here. Let’s go. I’m done. I’m done with you. This is the second or third time you’ve pulled this crap? You don’t want it bad enough so go home’.

“And she started talking back to me, and I said, ‘Don’t be talking back to me, get your ass and get out of here’. Ken Anderson was there and he came to me and says, ‘Does she always (do that)?’, I said, ‘This is the third time she’s done it’. He said, ‘Well she’s got a lot of talent’. I said, ‘Well I’m not gonna put up with that s**t, if you wanna take over go ahead’.

“So she came back about 10 minutes later and he pulled her over to the side, and talked to her a little bit, and I never had another problem with her after that.

“She’s got that attitude (laughs). I said, ‘You won’t have any problem (with) people not liking you. Just be yourself, and when you do an interview, be yourself. Just like you’re talking to me now, and you’ll get over, you’ll have everybody pissed off at you. But you might not hold a job long enough (laughs). So that was my exit to her at the end of the training.

“But she’s turned in and she’s come home and taken me out to lunch a couple of times, and she’s very receptive now, and thankful for the time we put in.”

The good-natured cajoling from Gagne has stood Stratton in good stead, with her work being credited for a boost in NXT ratings in April 2023.

Stratton went on to make her WWE SmackDown debut on February 2 with a win over Michin, with Triple H confirming she had been signed to the brand thereafter.

She is a former NXT Women’s Champion, losing the belt to Becky Lynch on September 12, 2023, after a reign of 107 days.
