Former WWE NXT Tag Team Champion Trent Seven has opened up about signing with TNA Wrestling and how it all came about.
Seven had a high-profile career on the independent circuit prior to making his first WWE appearance in December 2016.
A former three-time Progress Wrestling tag team champion (alongside Pete Dunne (now Butch in WWE) and Tyler Bate), Seven has also held the Atlas Championship for the company.
Elsewhere on the independent scene, he has also been an ICW World Heavyweight Champion, Revolution Pro Undisputed Tag Team Champion (with Bate), among a number of other titles.
His time in WWE would come to an end in August 2022 when it was revealed he had been released from his contract during a round of cuts.
In 2022, Seven would make his AEW debut on the December 7 episode of Rampage, with it being reported he had a “per show deal” with the company.
At IMPACT Wrestling Final Resolution, the last show to bear the old company name, it was revealed that Seven had signed a TNA contract.
Seven would speak exclusively to Tom Campbell of Cultaholic about how the deal came together, saying:
“We’ve been speaking for a few weeks now. Kind of just piecing things together and making sure everything worked out.
“A lot of times in this industry and the entertainment industry it’s about saying the right thing, being in the right place at the right time, doing the right stuff, looking the right way.
“There’s a lot of things that have to link up for these things to happen and that’s what it was. It was just the right place, right time, right decision.
“A million and 10 things lit up, evolving on the day and just kind of continuously evolving and luckily we got to deliver the fans with a real professional wrestling exciting secret. I just love it when wrestling happens like that.”
Along with being a former NXT Tag Team Champion, Seven was also NXT UK Tag Team Champion with Tyler Bate.
IMPACT Wrestling will be once again known as TNA starting with the January 13, 2024, PPV Hard to Kill.
