WWE is airing Royal Rumble 2017 on FS1 as part of their Coronavirus programming to fill in for live sports. As a response to a Tweet earlier promoting the show, Roman Reigns made quite the claim.
Roman tweeted this:
I might be the most important Royal Rumble competitor of all time. Before you start complaining, just think about the last 5 years…. https://t.co/tIfyv3bMyw
— Roman Reigns (@WWERomanReigns) July 8, 2020
Roman did hold the record for most eliminations with 12 in 2014. The record was broken this year by Brock Lesnar. He’s also never been eliminated before the final 3 in any Rumble match he’s entered.
Of course, he did have the one Rumble where he spent half the show not actually in the match. His only win in the Rumble came in 2015.
There are several multiple time winners including Triple H, Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, Batista, John Cena, and Steve Austin, who won 3 times. When you have someone who won it 3 times, can you call yourself the most important?
