It’s been a tough few weeks for CM Punk.
Trying to prepare for a UFC fight while taking part in one of the most publicized trials in recent times can’t have been entirely stress free, and the bitter taste that the world of wrestling has left in his mouth seems to have taken its toll.
Despite initially telling mmafighting.com that he had no plans to rule out a return to the ring, less than 24 hours later, Punk seems to have gone back on his comments.
During a UFC 225 media day, two days prior to his fight with Mike Jackson, Punk was asked again whether he would consider a return to wrestling, to which he replied:
“Yesterday I said a bunch of stuff about wrestling, about how I’ve never gotten a true offer. This does not mean I want to wrestle. I’m done. I’m done. I’m done with professional wrestling.
“A lot of people like to be mad at me about that, make fun of me because I lost my first fight. And it’s like, that’s fine, you’re entitled to your opinion, but you do not own me, and I’m entitled to do what I want to do and that’s what I’m doing.
“Wrestling is in the rear view mirror, I’ve been trying for five years to put wrestling in the rear view mirror, and some people just won’t let it go. I don’t know. They want to live my life for me”
After saying yesterday that an offer hasn’t come along yet, CM Punk is emphatic about his pro wrestling future: “I’m done, I’m done, I’m done with professional wrestling” pic.twitter.com/xKnW56XHSU
