WWE have done a fairly relentless job of pushing their female talent and the subsequent women’s revolution that goes hand in hand with it. God knows, we hear the phrase often enough on television, and the company has even released a DVD/Blu-ray on the subject which caused a stir by depicting a recently arrived Ronda Rousey on the cover.
Now, Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that WWE yearn to take that one step further by looking to produce and all-women’s event later this year that would feature main roster talent and possibly NXT stars as well. This is in addition to the upcoming Mae Young Classic which features female athletes from all over the globe.
This potential venture is said to make amends for the superstars not being allowed to compete at the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia in April. However, they didn’t miss out on anything, and most featured on a well received live event the very same evening. With no dates yet confirmed, the source believes WWE are looking at the end of September or early October. The latter is doubtful though, thanks to the Super Show-Down in Australia on the sixth of the month.
While nothing is set in stone, heavy talks are said to be taking place and fans have already gotten in on the buzz by suggesting some potential bouts for the show. The most notable being a triple threat main event featuring all three champions.
WrestleTalk will keep you informed as and when more details become available.
