Former NXT Champion Aleister Black has, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, undergone surgery for an injury he sustained at a live event this past weekend in Las Vegas. The injury has only just come to light.
Though it’s unknown what the injury was, it occurred after Black was crotched on the top rope by Tomasso Ciampa pointing to a potential groin problem. Whilst the amount of time he will spend on the sidelines is unclear as well, NXT are still hopeful he will return in time to compete in the penciled in Triple Threat Match at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV on August 18.
Aleister Black dropped the NXT Championship in shocking fashion to Tomasso Ciampa two weeks ago on NXT television, after interference by Johnny Gargano backfired.
