Evolution ‘Never Seen As A Big Show’

WWE never saw Evolution as a big show, and everything they’ve done to ‘promote’ it in recent weeks have proved that, Dave Meltzer has claimed.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer claimed the whole point of the show was to deflect heat from Crown Jewel, something that is particularly sticky given recent news.

“It was a way for Stephanie to brag about something, and it was a way to try and take the heat off the women not going to Saudi Arabia.”

He also noted that the show has still not sold out, and that the secondary market of people selling their tickets is huge. Some ticket touters are reportedly trying to get rid of their tickets for as little as $9 (£6).

“There are loads of tickets for $9 which is unheard of. Usually you would expect to see these kind of tickets for around $100.”

Meltzer slammed WWE for acting like they’re doing something groundbreaking by hosting the all-women show, despite all other sports doing it for decades in most cases.

It’s fair to say that the build has been lacklustre at best, and that as a PPV, it could be the worst built of not only the year, but in the last decade.

Frankly, it’s a complete disgrace, and WWE should be genuinely ashamed of what they have done.
