You know all those really well made WWE Studio films that critics rave about? Well, these films will soon be much more accessible after it was announced WWE Studios now has a partnership with Netflix.
PWInsider is reporting that films will be released on the streaming service as part of the new partnership.
The new projects will be made for family audiences and the first movie, The Main Event, will begin production in the summer.
The Main Event follows the story of a young boy who is bullied, but who also has dreams of one day becoming a WWE Superstar (feels a bit close to home, doesn’t it?). The PWInsider report suggests that John Cena, The Miz and Bray Wyatt could all make cameos.
In 2018, WWE Studios released three films. Mohawk (featuring Luke Harper), The Marine 6: Close Quarters (with The Miz, Becky Lynch, and Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels), and Blood Brother (featuring R-Truth).
The next film to be released is Fighting with my Family, the film based on the life of former WWE Superstar Paige. It’s had mixed reviews so far, but wrestling films are pretty rare so it’s probably worth watching when it comes out in theatres on February 22.
