Ladies and gentlemen, a dream match has been made for next week’s episode of SmackDown Live. ‘Johnny Wrestling’ will be taking on the ‘Swiss Cyborg’ himself, Cesaro. Following DIY’s win over The Bar on this week’s episode, the five-time tag team champions are looking to exact revenge in singles competition.
WWE themselves announced the match via their official Twitter account:
This Tuesday on #SDLive, #JohnnyWrestling will have his first singles match on the blue brand against @WWECesaro! @JohnnyGargano @WWESheamus @ProjectCiampa https://t.co/xy0kY31TIG

Along with the announcement, WWE released the following statement, hyping up the bout:
“Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa made a major statement when they defeated The Bar last week in their debut on SmackDown Live. The pair will now get a chance to double down on their emphatic victory when Gargano squares off against Cesaro on the blue brand this week. The Swiss Cyborg will surely look to quell Johnny Wrestling’s upward climb, but with Sheamus and Ciampa in their partners’ respective corners it’s safe to assume that the playing field will be level.”
Although Gargano and his DIY partner Tommaso Ciampa are still currently feuding on NXT, Vince McMahon doesn’t care so they’re the besties best for business (remember that nonsense?) on the blue brand.
Cesaro should get a good outing here as a singles competitor. One day it will hopefully be a regular sight with some singles titles to boot. For now, though, he can put over Gargano in a quality match and we’ll all rest easy in our beds.
